"Going into our final game against Millburn we had 10 points, while Watchung Hills had 5.5 points going into their final game against West Morris," said Coach Matt Gunther. "Knowing that Watchung Hills were going to beat West Morris, we knew we needed at least 0.5 points (a period tie) to tie the championship."

"After our first period against Millburn, the score was 0-0 and we picked up our half a point, but we still continued to put our best efforts in against Millburn but lost 4-0," Gunther said. "Millburn beat us 10-1 last year. After all was said and done, we tied Watchung Hills with 10.5 points to be named Co-Champions of the Essex County Holiday Tournament."

The Raiders are currently 3-7 on the season and will next play against Millburn at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 5. is Scotch Plains-Fanwood’s only free daily local news source.
