Conor Reilly added to his remarkable resume as one of the most dominant field event athletes in recent Union County history with a record-breaking performance at the State Non-Public A Track and Field Championships last Friday at the Bennett Center in Toms River. For his accomplishments -- this year and during his entire high school career, Conor Reilly is this week's Joint Motion Physical Therapy Athlete of the Week.

When the Lehigh-bound Reilly, a senior at Union Catholic, cleared 13-6 to win the pole vault at the state meet, he became the first boy to ever win the Non-Public A title four years in a row.

Reilly’s victory raised his career total to six state championships in the vault (he also won outdoor titles as a sophomore and junior), and it also qualified him for this Sunday’s State Meet of Champions at the Ocean Breeze Facility on Staten Island.

“It’s really exciting to win four straight state titles,’’ said Reilly, who lives in Scotch Plains. "To be able to consistently win and to keep improving my personal best every year means a lot to me.’’

Reilly holds all four indoor school class records at Union Catholic in the pole vault, and broke the overall school indoor record when he made 15-6 at the Lavino Relays last month, which is the third best vault in the state this season.

Outdoors, Reilly holds the Union Catholic freshman and sophomore records, and this spring he will be chasing the school outdoor record of 16-0 set by Andrew Ghizzone when he cleared that height to win the Meet of Champions title in 2014.

In addition to his state titles, last spring Reilly won the pole vault at the Union County Championships, led Union Catholic to the three-man meet record in the vault at the Union County Relays, captured his third straight sectional title, and was fourth at the Meet of Champions.
