SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ -- Five Raiders who played valuable roles in Scotch Plains-Fanwood's football resurgence have been selected to the Mid-State 38 All-Raritan Division team (first team). For their performances, which helped Scotch Plains-Fanwood win their first regular season games in several years, the following players are jointly named Joint Motion Physical Therapy Athletes of the Week:
- Shawn Martin, Junior, RB
- Christian Piesch, Junior, WR
- Kenny Yeager, Junior, LT
- Jack Manville, Junior, LB
- Matt Power, Sophomore, DB
The speedy Martin rushed for nearly 1,000 yards (949) and led the team in touchdowns with nine. Piesch had 20 catches for 211 yards and a touchdown at wide receiver. Yeager was a key protector on the offensive line. Manville, a linebacker, had 41.5 tackles and one sack on defense. Power, a sophomore, had 45 tackles as a defensive back.
Additionally, Camden Ricci, Senior, WR; Hayden Widder, Junior, QB; Marshall Young, Junior, DB; and Liam Mahr, Junior, DL were named to the Mid-State 38 All-Raritan Division second team.
With all of the Mid-State 38 All-Raritan Division selections returning except for Ricci (a senior), the Raiders will look to improve upon this year's 4-6 record and get above .500 next year.
