SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ -- The Scotch Plains-Fanwood Athletic Boosters hosted their first Homecoming Breakfast as part of the high school's Homecoming Weekend festivities on Saturday, Oct. 11.
"I want to thank the army of volunteers that helped out with an incredible day for the SPFHS Athletic community Saturday. Day began with the Athletic Boosters first ever pancake breakfast," said Boosters president Matt Tibbals. "We got off to a slow start, but had a strong finish. Special thank you to the coaches who took time to come serve the amazing food prepared by our volunteer chefs and for a special visit from Superintendent Dr. Mast. I believe we have started a great homecoming tradition."
The breakfast kicked off one of the most highly attended sports days in school history featuring wins by field hockey team, JV boys and girls soccer, and the Varsity boys and girls soccer teams, which both advanced to the semifinals of the Union County Tournament. The football team, which is improved from the past several years, continues to work hard and makes strides to get better each week.
"This was the type of day that makes me proud to be involved with the Athletic Booster Club," Tibbals added. "Best of luck to all of our teams as the move forward on this fall season."
