SCOTCH PLAINS, N.J. -- Several members of Union Catholic's softball team were honored for their outstanding seasons by being chosen for the All-Union County Conference Team.

Justina Benvenuto, Isabella Fuentes, and Gabriella Velona were all selected to the First-Team in the Mountain Division, and Gianna Peralta and Sarah Ohnmeiss were chosen as Honorable Mention.  

Benvenuto had a great campaign at the plate and on the mound. She pitched one no-hitter and a one-hitter, struck out 123 batters in 118 innings,and picked up nine victories on the mound. At the plate, Benvenuto slugged two home runs, scored 16 runs and knocked in nine runs.

  • Velona hit .346 with nine doubles, 19 runs scored, and drove in 10 runs.
  • Fuentes finished with a batting average of .455, knocked in 19 runs, and scored 10 runs.
  • Peralta scored 21 runs and hit .280, and also struck out 39 batters in 34 innings while earning one victory on the mound for the Vikings. 
  • Ohnmeiss had a .324 batting average, drove home 17 runs and knocked in 13 runs.
