SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ -  The Fanwood Scotch Plains YMCA (FSPY) Boys “Black” team defeated the visiting Somerset Valley Boys A Division, 180 to 163.5, on November 23.

This meet marks the last home meet for the Boys Black team. The meet started with the recognition of graduating seniors Logan D’Amore and Keren Huang. Best of luck to Logan and Keren on their future endeavors!

Individual Medley
Ryan Scarpa and Connor Scarpa finished 1,2 respectively in the 100IM for the 10U boys.  In the 11-12 200 IM,  Corey Calderone placed 2nd, followed by Aaron Frank in 3rd and Chris Espiritu in 5th.

In the 50 Free, the 8U trio of Charles Yu, Jayden Le and Sebastian Rodriguez took 3,4, 5 respectively.  In the 9-10 100 Free, Braden Michaels placed 2nd, Leyang Zeng touched 4th and Benjamin Zhou placed 5th. In the 11-12 100 Free, Harrison McClure took 5th. The 13-14 boys swept their 50 free event with Adrian Romej, Owen Waibel and Bradley Frank  touching 1,2, 3 respectively. The 15-18 boys had Darien Betances taking 1st, Logan D’Amore touching 3rd, and Joseph Gurski placing 4th.

In the 8U 25 Breast, Le took 4th while Ethan Yang touched 5th.  In the 9-10 50 Breast, C. Scarpa took 1st, Zhou 4th and Muhammad Sayani tied for 5th place.  In the 11-12 50 Breast, C. Calderone touched 1st while Espiritu placed 4th. In the 13-14 age group, Waibel, Tyler McGeehan, and Frank took 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively in the 50 Breast, while for the 15 and overs, Betances, Huang and D’Amore took 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively.

In the 8U 25 Back, Jayden Yip, Rodriguez and Nolan Begarney took 3rd, 4th and 5th respectively. Michaels touched 2nd in the 9-10 50 Back, while for the 11-12 boys, A. Frank and Brandon Calderone took 1st and 2nd respectively. In the 13-14 50 Back, Romej touched 2nd while Waibel placed 3rd. For the 15 and overs, Huang took 1st while Alan Xia took 2nd.

Yip and Yang took 3rd and 4th respectively in the 25 Fly for the 8U. In the 9-10 50 Fly, R. Scarpa placed 1st while Sayani took 2nd and Alex Holston touched 4th. For the 11-12 50 Fly, B. Calderone and Sean Stanik took 2nd and 3rd respectively. For the 13-14 50 Fly, Romej took 1st while Waibel took 5th.  D’Amore, Betances and Julian Kaniuka swept the 50 Fly for the 15 and overs by taking 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively.

The boys 15 and over team of Xia, Betances, Gurski and D’Amore  took 1st place in the 200 Medley relay.

The FSPY Boys Black team will travel to the Greater Monmouth YMCA for their final dual meet on Dec. 21st.
