SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ -- Two Scotch Plains-Fanwood swimmer Ethan Morrobel and runner Olivia Zambrio have been named as UCIAC Scholar Athletes for 2020 by the Union County Conference.

Ethan Morrobel made the most of his years at Scotch Plains Fanwood High School by participating in Freshman Baseball, Golf, Cross-Country and the Varsity Swim team while continuing to maintain high honors. He was a member of the National Honor Society and participated in the EEF Leadership Training Conference, UC STEP, and New Jersey Boys State. 

Outside of school Ethan has been an Advocacy Ambassador for a non-profit to raise awareness and education about Usher Syndrome for many years. Ethan topped off his four years of Raider swimming with two Top Ten finishes at the Union County Championships. He was a key swimmer throughout the entire season, and his efforts enabled him to qualify for NISCA U.S. Para Swimming All American honors. Ethan also participated in the 2019 National Paraswim championships, winning national titles in the 50 and 100 Butterfly. He also holds American records in100 and 200 Butterfly.

Ethan plans to continue his swimming and para swimming career at the Rochester Institute of Technology, where he will study Aerospace Engineering.

Olivia Zambrio earned ten Varsity Letters, was twice 1st Team All Conference, All County; twice was a Group IV Championship Qualifier, set the school record in Female Cross Country Time; set Course Records at Oak Ridge and Greystone, set the school record in Indoor Distance Medley, and was a 4x800 Championship Qualifier and 3200 Indoor Championship Qualifier.

In addition to her athletic accomplishments, Olivia is an active member of the Scotch Plains Rescue Squad Auxiliary.  She participated in student council throughout her years at SPFHS, DECA and Relay for Life. Olivia Zambrio had a 4.28 Weighted GPA and an ACT Score of 27.
