SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- The Union Catholic volleyball team, the fourth seed in the Union County Tournament, dealt fifth-seeded Summit its first loss of the season with a straight-set victory, 25-11, 25-22, in the quarterfinal round of the Union County Tournament on Tuesday night. 

The two-time defending county champion Vikings advances to face top-seeded and 15th ranked Westfield in the semifinal round on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Johnson High School in Clark.

Brianna Lamberty and Noelle Matyi led Union Catholic (5-4) to victory over Summit (9-1) with five kills each, and Lamberty also had four digs and four aces. Adrienne Caceda finished with 14 digs and two aces for the Vikings.
