ATLANTIC CITY, NJ -- Scotch Plains-Fanwood wrestler Brandon Bowles' successful season concluded in the 126 lb. Pre-quarterfinal Round at the 2020 NJSIAA State Wrestling Championships in Atlantic City on Wednesday, March 4.

The No. 15 seeded Bowles, a junior, won his preliminary round match over Julian George of Christian Brothers Academy by a 9-2 decision and advanced to the Pre-quarterfinal Round, where he took on Delbarton's Nicholas Nardone, who won a 12-6 decision. Nardone, who is committed to wrestle at Penn next year, had just two losses going into the match and was ranked by NJ.com as one of the top 20 pound-for-pound wrestlers in the entire state.

Afterwards, Bowles won his Third-Place Consolation match over Nick Canonica of Hunterdon Central by a 7-2 Decision and then dropped a 9-4 decision to No. 7 seeded Nico Messina, a senior from Freehold.

"Brandon wrestled an unbelievable tournament. He made it one round farther than last year," said Raiders coach Marc Fabiano. "He lost in the pre-quarter final to Nardone, who was ranked as the second seed in that bracket. The Delbarton coach even complimented Brandon on his skill and toughness following the match."

"Brandon really showed how good he is," Fabiano added. "He continues to get better every year, and we are so excited for next season!"

Brandon Bowles finished his season at 32-7.
