FANWOOD, NJ -- It'll be the "Battle of The Union County 'Woods" as Fanwood Mayor Colleen Mahr and Garwood Mayor Sara Todisco have challenged each other's communities to see which one can raise enough food for the Foodstock organization.

The mayors of both one square mile towns are encouraging their residents to donate to help alleviate hunger locally.

"Summer is when donations at food pantries are at their lowest. An estimated 53,000 people in Union County experience food insecurity," said Mayor Colleen Mahr as she kicked off the campaign with Mayor Todisco and Bob Swisher, founder of Foodstock and a Fanwood native. "We have neighbors who are not eating because they can't afford food. Your food donations stay local."

  • Coffee and tea
  • Pasta (all types), rice, and macaroni & cheese

Foodstock is a grassroots community effort formed to assist with the needs of our less fortunate community members who are struggling to put food on their tables due to the current economic environment. This successful effort began in 2010 in central New Jersey, and has since collected over 220,000 pounds of food and $54,000 for area food pantries!
