SOUTH ORANGE AND MAPLEWOOD, NJ — This November, residents of South Orange and Maplewood will choose from ten candidates to fill three seats on the South Orange - Maplewood School District Board of Education (SOMBOE). The deadline to file for candidacy was Monday, July 31.   

Elizabeth Baker, current SOMBOE president, and Donna Smith are both running for re-election this year. Maureen Jones is not seeking re-election.  

New candidates for SOMBOE from Maplewood are John Sarantakis, Avery Julien, Anthony Mazzocchi, Lucas Calhoun, Felisha George, and Shannon Cuttle.

Candidates from South Orange are Robin Baker and Sheila Shidnia.

SOMBOE seats have a three year term. 

Madhu Pai, Chris Sabin, and Annemarie Maini have terms through 2018, and Susie Adamson, Stephanie Lawson-Muhammad, and Johanna Wright have terms through 2019.

Elections will be held on Tuesday November 7, 2017.
