SOUTH ORANGE, NJ -  The official opening of Artistry Salon by Ampy was held last week, with the ribbon cutting ceremony held indoors due to inclement weather.

Surrounded by family, clients, well-wishers, and members of the South Orange Village government, South Orange Village Center Alliance (SOVCA), and the Academy Heights Neighborhood Association, everyone gathered behind the ribbon before it was officially cut.

Bob Zuckerman, Executive Director of SOVCA, welcomed all. “I’m thrilled to be at the official opening of Artistry Salon, having worked with Ampy and her sister Heysel for about three years helping them find the right spot, and that together we found the right spot, right here at Third and Valley."

South Orange Village President, Sheena Collum shared, “As you know Valley Street is a very important retail corridor and we haven’t seen the level of investment in a very long time. It’s wonderful to see these wonderful retail and service establishments heading south on Valley Street, which has been basically neglected for a very long time."

"The financial and personal investment and commitment you’ve made to be in this award-winning new development, it’s very important for our community to get involved. And I know that the wonderful and active Academy Heights community who are wonderful people living in this area are going to enjoy all that you have to offer," added Collum.

"When you sign-up to be a business or property owner in South Orange, you’re part of a family. A much larger family than just your customers. I hope you’ll get involved with the Village Center Alliance. We’re here to see you succeed, so let us know if you need any help. Make everybody as pretty as you can," said Collum.

Heysel Moreno added her appreciation, stating “thank you to all our clients, the Downtown Alliance, the Village of South Orange, and everyone for making our dream come true after years and years of looking for the right place."

Ampy Moreno also thanked all. "I just want to thank everyone and I still can’t believe it. Look around – all this started with a dream and we’re here and hoping we can stay for a very very long time. Thank you, everyone!”

Artistry Salon by Ampy is located at 165 Valley St Unit A in South Orange.
