SOUTH ORANGE, NJ - Do you have something to say about motherhood? Here's your chance to join Listen to Your Mother, the national movement that gives "motherhood a microphone."

Auditions are taking place soon to select the cast of the third annual North Jersey "Listen to Your Mother" show, which will be performed at the South Orange Performing Arts Center (SOPAC) on Sat., May 7, at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Auditions for "Listen to Your Mother" will take place on Sat., Jan. 30, from 10 a,m. to 6 p.m., Sun., Jan. 31, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Mon., Feb. 1, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Auditions are open to all, including men, women, kids, teens, young adults, parents and non-parents.

Auditions are by appointment only and can be made via email to Emails should have the word AUDITION in the subject
line and include name, phone number, audition date and time preferences, which organizers will do their best to accommodate.

"Listen to Your Mother" is a spoken word event, and people should come to the audition prepared to read aloud an original piece about motherhood that is three to five minutes long. Professional writing or stage experience is not required, and the show's producer, Deborah Goldstein, stated that they "rely on our local story tellers to share their personal stories from their unique perspectives. We’re hoping to cast a wide net and invite any and all to share their stories with us."

If chosen for the show, participants commit to two rehearsals in the spring (dates TBD) and a pre-show run-through on May 7.
