SOUTH ORANGE, NJ - Audrey Wallock has been appointed as the interim principal at South Mountain Elementary. Principal Wallock will hold a meet and greet for South Mountain School families on Fri., Jan. 15, at 8:15 a.m. at the Big School.
Below is a letter from Principal Wallock that was sent via email to the school community:
Greetings to the South Mountain School community!
I am enthusiastic about having the opportunity to be a part of the South Orange and Maplewood School District. The staffs at the Big School and Annex have been remarkably welcoming and friendly, as were the students as I visited many classrooms during my first few days.
I have worked closely with our assistant principal, Marianne Hess, and interim assistant principal, Courtney DeVomecourt. This facilitated a smooth and seamless transition of continuous scholastic leadership.
My goal is to maintain a safe and stable environment to support progress educationally, socially, and emotionally. I intend to follow the mission statement to serve the needs of all students in all areas of their growth and development. I assure you that your Superstars are in good hands.
It has been my pleasure to have already met with the PTA Executive Board. Together we discussed having a Meet and Greet for parents and guardians. It will take place on Friday, January 15, at 8:15 a.m. at the Big School. Light refreshments will be served.
I look forward to getting to know you throughout the school year.
