MAPLEWOOD, NJ — A collision occurred today at the corner of Jefferson Avenue and Maplewood Avenue, and one of the two cars involved was a municipal vehicle.
The municipal vehicle struck a fire hydrant, causing the hydrant to leak water. The Maplewood Fire Department arrived to assess the scene and clear the cars' fluids from the road. New Jersey American Water repaired the hydrant.
The name of the driver and their position within the Township was not released. The driver incurred a head injury and was taken to a hospital by a MFD ambulance. It is unknown if either driver was cited by the Maplewood Police Department.
