MAPLEWOOD, NJ - Captain Dawn Williams of the Maplewood Police Department has released a statement that there was an accident today involving a pedestrian, a seven-year-old boy, and a motor vehicle.

According to the release from Captain Williams, at approximately 8:34 a.m. today, Maplewood Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident at Prospect Street and Lexington Avenue in Maplewood.

As a result of the collision, the boy was transported to the hospital with injuries that are non life threatening.

An initial investigation determined that speed was not a factor in the collision.

A summons has been issued to the driver, and the crash investigation is ongoing.

Maplewood Police has no further details available at this time.
