JERSEY CITY, NJ - The Columbia boys basketball team went on the road and sprung a big upset in the opening round of the state tournament.

Malachi Ashley buried five 3-pointers and scored 23 points to lead the Cougars to a 65-55 victory over Dickinson High School on Monday in the NJSIAA North 2, Group 4 state tournament.

Dickinson (17-10) flaunted a much better record coming into the game, but it was all Columbia for the first three quarters. The Cougars (8-15) raced out to a 30-19 halftime lead and added to that with a 17-8 spurt in the third quarter.
