NEWARK, NJ — The Columbia boys basketball team opened an 11-point lead after one quarter and went on to a 60-49 victory over Payne Tech on Saturday.

Sophomore point guard Jalen Robinson finished with 15 points, seven assists, four rebounds and two steals for the Cougars (9-4), who led, 17-6, after a quarter and then 32-23 at the half.

Josiah Lawful had 14 points, 10 rebounds and three blocked shots, Nigel Garcia scored 11 points and handed out three assists, and Andrew Rowley collected eight rebounds in the victory.
