MAPLEWOOD, NJ — Home based business owners went to boot camp on Wednesday, courtesy of the Maplewood Chamber of Commerce. The Jan. 22 event brought together some 20 business owners to learn about topics such as public relations, and time management and working professionally from home.
Julie Campbell has lived in Maplewood for almost 20 years. She owns a business coaching business people to use acting skills in their presentations and public speaking, "to engage and connect with audiences, and to tell their business stories." She felt the event was "a fabulous opportunity to network. I have a relatively new business, but I've been an actor and writer for over 30 years."
Anna Dunbar, with One Hope Wine, which helps non-profits raise money through wine tastings and sales, enjoyed her first Chamber event. She came to network, she said, as she is new in the business and would like to broaden her contacts in the community and beyond.
The next Chamber event is next Weds., Jan. 29. It is a multi-Chamber networking event to be held at Galloping Hill Caterers in Union.
