MONTCLAIR, NJ - A car burst into flames on Bloomfield Avenue on Wednesday evening, causing traffic delays during rush hour.

Montclair firefighters responded to the intersection of Glenridge and Bloomfield Avenue on report of a car fire. The older model Dodge suffered from an engine fire that resulted in the car wheels melting in the street.

There was a significant amount of traffic that had backed up onto Bloomfield Ave due to rubber-necking and the location of where the vehicle was. However, firefighters worked quickly to extinguish the blaze and clear the area.

No information about the cause of the blaze has been made available. The driver was able to exit the vehicle safely and remained at the scene until the tow truck arrived.
