Childhood Trauma and Resilience: An Educational Conference

Imagine, A Center for Coping with Loss in partnership with Kean University is hosting its 3rd Annual Traume and Resilience Educational Conference for theraists, health care providers, teachers and anyone working with traumatized and grieving children. CE's are provided by Kean University

Many children will be exposed to either a traumatic event or ongoing traumatic experiences in their lives. Children who experience trauma are 2.5 times more likely to have to repeat a year of school, to have chronic health issues such as asthma or obesity, and to be diagnosed with ADHD. In New Jersey, 16% of children under the age 17 have experienced two or more traumatic events in their lifetime. As mental health professionals and caring members of the community, it is important to learn how to support children through traumatic experiences and teach resiliency.
