SOUTH ORANGE, NJ - Students at South Mountain Elementary School had a special visitor on Tuesday, when author/illustrator Ben Clanton came to the school.

Clanton, who is the writer and illustrator of the popular graphic novels, "Narwhal and Jelly," held private assemblies with each grade.

Clanton talked about "his writing process, answered many interesting and thoughtful questions, and created characters with the kids, explained event organizers, adding "he was truly inspiring!"

In addition to meeting with the students, Clanton also gave the school drawings he created with the students, including two featuring his characters Narwhal and Jelly Jolt, which South Mountain auctioned on back to school night to raise money for the school.
