SOUTH ORANGE/MAPLEWOOD, NJ  Santa supporters everywhere are getting their jingle bells ready!

The Christmas spirit around the world is alive and well! It will be heard in waves as time zones around the world celebrate!

On December 24, believers around the world, whatever time zone they are in, at 6pm, are going to step outside and ring their jingle bells for two minutes at 6pm. If you can't step outside, perhaps open your window and listen for the spirit of Christmas!

It’s an idea that has traveled to the U.S. over the pond, apparently originating in the Central Belt. Worldwide attention to Santa is stronger than ever!  Terri Niven, from the Central Belt created a Facebook page called Forth Valley Santa’s Xmas Eve Jingle. Only 48 hours later it gained 40,000 followers from around the world. She then renamed it Worldwide Santa’s Xmas Eve Jingle. Niven's commented, "After a tough year it would be an amazing memory for the kids and communities. For a short moment we will be smiling, kids will be laughing and if you can not get out to ring a bell we are with you and you’ll hear us.”

According to many social media reports, the day before Niven launched her Christmas initiative, Mary Beggs-Reid started a page in Harrogate which has reached double that figure. Mary said: “On Christmas Eve at 6pm wherever you are in the world we are asking everyone to come outside and ring a bell for two minutes to spread Christmas spirit and to help Santa fly that sleigh." Quite fitting her name is Mary! Merry Christmas to all!
