SOUTH ORANGE, NJ – For the second time in January, Seton Hall freshman Khadeen Carrington was given a Big East Conference weekly award on Monday.
Following a career-high 20-point performance in the Pirates’ overtime loss to Butler last Tuesday, Carrington was awarded the Big East Rookie of the Week, his second in the past three weeks.
Carrington scored nine points in the final three minutes of regulation to force overtime against Butler.
The freshman from Brooklyn previously won the award on Jan. 5 following Seton Hall’s upset victories over then No. 16 St. John’s and No. 6 Villanova. In five Big East games so far, Carrington is averaging 12.8 points per game, which ranks him No. 12 in the conference.
Seton Hall also appeared in the Associated Press’s Top 25 for the third consecutive week, coming in at No. 24.
Following a 9-days off, the Pirates host DePaul on Thursday at Prudential Center before visiting Butler on Sunday.
