SOUTH ORANGE, NJ - Although he is only a sophomore, Columbia High School pitcher Danny Boehmer has taken Essex County by storm.

The right-hander extended his record to 5-0 with a complete-game one-hit shutout on Tuesday as Columbia defeated Madison, 2-0, at Cameron Field.

Boehmer, a 5-foot-10, 165-pounder, struck out 10 and walked four.

Columbia (15-1) scored its runs in the third and sixth innings on RBIs by Peter Nolet and Daniel Cotler. Ryan Murphy, who is batting .490, went 2-for-3 with a run scored for the Cougars.

According to the blog BaseballFactory.com, Boehmer has a fastball that has topped 90 mph. "He works from a unique delivery, offering the look and feel of the stretch with a step back towards first base to start his motion," the blog said in its coverage of the 2015 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament.
