FAMILYConnections: Celebrating Wellness...and Recovery

Connect to Wellness at the Clipper Pavilion
Event attendees took part in a series of healthy activities including Zumba
Story telling was one of many activities for kids.

In honor of National Recovery Month, FAMILYConnections hosted Connect to Wellness, a free family wellness festival on Sunday, September 24, from 1-5 pm at the Clipper Pavilion, West Orange.  National Recovery Month, a national health observance, aims to remind Americans that people can recover from mental health and substance use disorders to achieve healthy and rewarding lives.

“The afternoon was sunny and very hot,” says Jacques Hryshko, FAMILYConnections’ Executive Director.  “However, the warm weather did not stop our many guests, presenters, volunteers and staff from celebrating wellness and healthy living.  The afternoon offered a series of health promoting activities including yoga, Zumba, barre and kids activities such as arts and crafts, face painting and an obstacle course. Connect to Wellness was a fun afternoon in the park offering a few simple ways that people of all ages can follow their own path to wellness and a lifetime of good health.”

Connect to Wellness was made possible with the generous support of sponsors and friends: Ammon Labs, Clawson Architects, LLC, Drill Construction, Roger Manshel, Miller-Conturso Group of Morgan Stanley, Qualifacts Systems, Walgreen’s, and Weisbrod’s Pharmacy.   Kings Food Markets, Shop Rite, Stop & Shop, Trader Joe’s and Wegmans contributed products.

FAMILYConnections serves the Greater Essex region with 35+ behavioral health programs for all ages offering counseling, skills-building, training and prevention.  To learn more visit www.familyconnectionsnj.org.
