MAPLEWOOD AND SOUTH ORANGE, NJ - This June 9 and June 10 the first Maplewood - South Orange (MAPSO) Book Festival will be held, bringing together "authors, readers and book lovers from all over New Jersey, as well as New York City," stated festival organizers.
The book festival will feature authors "in conversation," panels, and a dedicated children's area. Writers of fiction and non-fiction are participating from a wide-range of genres, and include young adult and children's authors.
Just some of the 60 + authors participating include Christina Baker Kline, Nicole Dennis-Benn, Pamela Erens, Nick Bruel, Barry Lyga, Marina Budhos, Jean Korelitz, Wendy Mass and Derek Thompson. A full list of authors is here.
The festival will be held at The Woodland in Maplewood, the South Orange Performing Arts Center (SOPAC), and other venues around Maplewood and South Orange.
The festival will also feature a keynote address by best-selling popular science author Mary Roach, and a closing keynote from 2017 Caldecott Medal winner Javaka Steptoe.
Tickets to An Evening with Mary Roach Each are $45 and include a complimentary paperback copy of Grunt. Premium tickets are $75, and include a signed copy of Grunt, as well as admission to the launch party for the Maplewood—South Orange Book Festival. The launch party will be held at the SOPAC Loft from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., before the Mary Roach keynote event, and will feature a meet and greet with Mary Roach and other festival authors, light snacks, and an open bar.
