BAYONNE, NJ -- The Columbia football team scored a key road victory with a 10-7 verdict over Bayonne on the waterfront Friday night.
A field goal by Drew Sinclair and a touchdown run by Joseph Holdbrook accounted for the scoring by the Cougars (5-2), who rushed for 133 yards as a team and gained 277 yards of total offense.
Nick Aaron completed 10 of 18 passes for 144 yards for Columbia, including five completions for 54 yards to flanker Michael Caines. Owen McGuffey caught two passes for 70 yards.
Joseph Holdbrook finished with 80 yards on nine carries and Stephen Henry carried 11 times for 33 yards for Columbia.
The Cougars defense shined, with Hudson Grumieaux making a sack and Brentilton Mercier, Justin Anderson and Fred Holdbrook all coming up with fumble recoveries. Mercier led the Cougars with 12 total tackles.
