I enthusiastically endorse Donna Smith for South Orange Maplewood Board of Education. I urge each concerned resident in the district to vote for Donna this coming November.
Donna is a 25 year resident of South Orange. With three children who attended the schools from kindergarten through 12th grade, all with unique educational needs, Donna thoroughly understands the intricacies of the SOMA district. On the BOE she will use this vast experience and knowledge to make informed decisions on BOE matters.
As a long -time resident and taxpayer, Donna also knows the financial impact our schools have on local taxes. I am confident that Donna will strive to create a school district that provides a quality education for every student while being mindful of the school budget and its impact on local taxes.
Donna will carefully look at new and changing school programs. She will ask hard questions about the impact of each new proposed school initiative, and insist on developing ways of measuring program success. As a lawyer and adjunct professor of law she is uniquely positioned to evaluate best practices within the SOMA district.
Refreshingly, Donna will be a member of the BOE who is approachable and thoughtful. She will thoroughly consider the concerns of parents and other residents in all policy decisions she makes. She is also an exceptional communicator, and will help to assure that the work of the BOE is effectively communicated to the public.
Donna is an incredible choice for the BOE. Please join me in voting for Donna in the November BOE election.
