MAPLEWOOD, NJ - On Saturday afternoon, Oct. 15, the community came together to welcome a new business, Avian and John, to Springfield Avenue.
Maplewood Mayor Vic De Luca, Julie Doran, Executive Director of the Springfield Avenue Partnership, as well as Maplewood Township Committee members Ian Grodman, Greg Lembrich, India Larrier, Deputy Mayor Nancy Adams, and Rick Gilman, President of the Maplewood Chamber of Commerce, joined with co-owner Avian, to cut the ceremonial ribbon officially welcoming the new business to town.
De Luca said, "Avian and John is a great addition to Springfield Avenue with a focus on home and health. It’s really great that they brought it here, and we’re very happy to have them here.”
Gilman also welcomed Avian and John to the Maplewood business community, stating “this is a terrific addition to a very vibrant corner of Maplewood. It’s a wonderful space, and the chamber wishes them success."
Avian thanked all for coming to the ribbon cutting, and shared how happy she and her husband John are to be open in Maplewood. The store sells both hand-crafted items and antique pieces.
On Sundays through October 30, Avian and John is hosting an Artisan Market with local vendors bringing hand-crafted products, original art, baked goods, specialty foods, and much more.
