UNION, NJ – Hundreds of police officers, family and friends attended a viewing and funeral service for Orange Detective Tyrone Grundy Wednesday morning at Bethal AME Church on Hilton Avenue in Vauxhall. Officer Grundy, 51, passed away on Monday, Sept. 18.

Police officers from surrounding communities, particularly those from Essex County departments, attended the service. Detective Grundy was a member of the Bethal AME Church. He joined the Orange Police Department in 1994. He served in numerous capacities, including Uniformed Patrol, Street Crimes Unit, Housing Task Force, Narcotics Unit and the Detective Bureau.

After the service and funeral, burial occurred at Heavenly Rest Memorial Park in East Hanover.
