WEST ORANGE, NJ - The Bernards ice hockey team secured its first victory of the season Saturday night, 2-1, over Nutley-Columbia.

Jason Stitt scored in the second period with an assist from Nick Emmons to give the Mountaineers (1-1) a 2-1 lead. Emmons had also assisted on Bernards' first goal, a power play goal by Ryan McGriskin with 2:52 left in the first period.

Nutley tied the game with 13:31 left in the second period, but Bernards goalie Andrew O'Donnell kept the net clean the rest of the game. O'Donnell finished with 14 saves.
