MAPLEWOOD, NJ - On Sunday, Dec. 9, from 10 a.m to 2 p.m. Slow Food Northern New Jersey will be hosting a special indoor farmers market at The Woodland (60 Woodland Rd.) in Maplewood in honor of "Terra Madre Day."
According to Slow Food Northern New Jersey's website, this newly added market is to recognize Terra Madre Day, which is officially Dec. 10, and is Slow Food’s annual day to "promote the diversity of food traditions and production, and show how our network is using its creativity and knowledge to express our love for the planet and defend the future for the next generations."
The market will provide a chance for visitors to meet local farmers and food artisans, stock up for the holidays, and support school and community gardens, stated the Slow Food Northern New Jersey website.
Admission to the indoor market is a suggested $3 donation, with all proceeds funding school and community gardens.
