SOUTH ORANGE AND MAPLEWOOD, NJ  - It's National Night Out in many communities and there are events planned in both South Orange and Maplewood for Tuesday, August 7.

National Night Out promotes police-community partnerships, and provides public safety tips and information, according to their website.

South Orange will hold its Ninth Annual National Night Out on Tuesday, August 7, hosted by South Orange Village, the South Orange Police Department, the South Orange Rescue Squad, and the South Orange Fire Department.

South Orange National Night Out will take place on Floods Hill beginning at 6:30 p.m., with live music. The event will also feature a Kids Zone with bounce houses, water slides, activities, and giveaways, including t-shirts, Frisbees, and glow sticks. There will also be food truck vendors throughout the event.

National Night Out ends with a showing of The Greatest Showman at 8:30 p.m., and all are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs.


The Maplewood Police Department is hosting National Night Out in DeHart Park (120 Burnett Ave.) from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, August 7. The event will feature music, food, and fun, according to an email from the police department.
