MAPLEWOOD, NJ - T-OP Ice Cream and Fried Chicken, which opened just a few months ago at the tri-corner of Boyden and Springfield avenues and Boyden Parkway, is the latest casualty of that tough-to-succeed corner.

Dubbed by some the "Bermuda Triangle," the unusual spot has seen a string of eateries come and go over the years.

The latest, T-OP, launched its unique fare of rolled ice cream prepared via a freezing metal sheet and Japanese fried chicken in March. After some fanfare and a grand opening, business appears to have stalled.

A recent visit found the eatery shutdown and a sign declaring “Business for Sale.”

We called the ownership who said they had “issues” between the partners, but hoped to re-open again, possibly as a sushi spot.

The location has had a history of ups and downs, with the previous owners, Just Fish, also closing down within a year. Previously, a Coney Island Hot Dog stand lasted a bit longer, along with Papa’s Subs and Wings.
