SUMMIT, NJ - Congregation Beth Hatikvah (CBH) will celebrate 'LGBTQ Pride Month' with a visit from Abby Stein, who will share her unusual and inspirational story of transition from Hasidic rabbi to transgender activist during a wine and cheese reception held June 10 at 4:30 p.m.

Stein, a direct descendant of the Baal Shem Tov -- founder of the Hasidic movement -- attended yeshiva and completed a rabbinical degree in 2011. She chose to leave the Hasidic world soon after to explore different world views.

In 2015, Stein came out as “a woman of trans experience,” and since then has been working to raise support and awareness for trans rights and those leaving Ultra-Orthodoxy.
