SOUTH ORANGE AND MAPLEWOOD, NJ - Fall is here, and that means it is time for the annual process of raking leaves for collection. Here are the schedules for leaf removal in South Orange, Maplewood, and Essex County roads.
SOUTH ORANGE LEAF COLLECTION
From the Village of South Orange website:
Leaf Season will begin on Monday, October 23 and go through December 6.
Leaves are only to be placed curbside when your street falls under an open zone on the leaf map which will be available on the Public Works web page the week prior to pickups beginning. Please review the Seasonal Information tab on the top left margin of the Public Works page for all policies with regards to leaf pickup.

MAPLEWOOD LEAF COLLECTION
From the Maplewood Township website:
Beginning the week of October 16, leaf piles will be collected in all Sections until regular Sectional collections begin on October 23.
Please note that weather and equipment failures may cause a delay in the collection schedule. Delays should not be more than 1 or 2 days. If the Township gets ahead of schedule, they may come through your section early, but will also be back during your scheduled week.
No leaves shall be put in the street more than 7 days prior to your scheduled week. No leaves shall be put in the street after the Sunday of your final collection week. No plastic bags or branches may be mixed with the leaves. Leaves will not be collected if there is evidence of plastic bags, branches, or other waste items.

ESSEX COUNTY ROADS LEAF COLLECTION
Essex County roads in South Orange and Maplewood are scheduled for leaf collection from
October 30 to November 3, November 27 to December 1, and December 26 to December 29. Leaves can be placed in either biodegradable bags or swept to the curb. More details here.
