LIVINGSTON, NJ – The Livingston League of Women Voters presents Paula Michelsen McGovern, Executive Director of the Friends of Eagle Island, Inc. (FEI), who will speak about her organization's efforts to preserve Eagle Island, a National Historic Landmark Adirondack Great Camp located on Upper Saranac Lake, New York, at the Senior Community Center on April 19 a 8 p.m.

Originally donated to the Girl Scout Council of the Oranges and Maplewood by the Graves family in 1937 to provide learning opportunities and out-of-door experiences for girls and young women, Eagle Island Camp was a Girl Scout Camp for 70 years and has developed generations of women leaders.

Friends of Eagle Island, Inc., an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization formed in 2011, purchased the property from the Girl Scouts Heart of NJ Council in 2015. FEI's mission is to perpetuate this legacy by providing an environmentally responsible Adirondack island camping experience for diverse youth, with an emphasis on girls and young women, while preserving Eagle Island’s natural and historic character.

Light refreshments will be served during the April 19 event.
