SOUTH ORANGE, NJ – A 55-year-old Newark resident was robbed at gunpoint at 5 a.m. on Monday while walking on Wilden Place near Seton Place, according to reports from the South Orange police and Seton Hall University.

The victim told police that a silver-colored sedan pulled into a driveway and the passenger, who had a gun, got out of the car and demanded his valuables. The man surrendered his wallet and cell phone. The phone was later recovered when the robber threw it from the car window as he and the driver fled east on Wilden Place into Newark.

The man, who is not affiliated with Seton Hall University, was not injured. The South Orange Detective Bureau is investigating the robbery.
