Maplewood is hosting its 9th Green Day fair from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 14, to demonstrate simple ways that every person can make more planet-friendly, sustainable choices in their lives. The fair is a community celebration with live music, how-to demonstrations and eco-vendors, environmental organizations, organic and local food providers and farmers. Green Day offers a variety of events and activities for all ages. The fair takes place in Memorial Park between Dunnell Rd. and Maplewood Ave., directly across from NJ Transit Maplewood Station.

  • Demonstrations: sustainable landscaper help desk, eco-mower test drive, backyard composting, growing native plants and vegetables, retrofitting old homes, green cleaning, and more

  • All-electric vehicle (EV) car show with models from Tesla, Toyota and others

  • Live bands all day: David Easton Band, Mood Ring, Flip da Skrip, Amish Internet, Thea Kearney, Kelly Jin-Hendel and Madison McGehee

  • Green vendors and exhibitors with the latest products and services for a sustainable community

  • “Live Animals of the Rain Forest” presentations by Rizzo’s Reptiles and Hands-on science fun with Vinny Voltage

  • High Gear Cyclery providing free bike tune ups. Youth that bring and register their bikes at the event will get a free youth bike helmet provided by the Maplewood Loves Wellness committee and the Maplewood Police Department. Park your bike in the free monitored bike parking.

  • Planet-friendly fun activities kid’s environmental games, Girl and Boy Scout Troops hands-on learning, art project with Express Yourself Studies.
