January 29 - Burglary; At approximately 3:10 p.m., officers responded to the area of Heller Pl and Orchard Rd on the report of an individual going into backyards. While checking the area, a juvenile approached an officer and notified her that her home on Orchard Rd had just been entered by an unknown male. Officers checked the home and surrounding area, but were unable to locate the suspect. A tablet was reported missing from the home.

January 30 - Motor Vehicle Theft; At approximately 1 p.m., a Porsche was left running on the 1900 block of Springfield Ave while the owner went into a store. When he returned the vehicle was being driven away by an unknown male.

February 1 - Motor Vehicle Theft; At approximately 7:10 a.m., a vehicle left running in a driveway on the 100 block of Lexington Ave was stolen.

February 3 - Theft from Auto; Sometime during the previous day, an unsecured vehicle parked on Academy St was entered and a wallet was stolen.

Over the past several weeks Maplewood and many surrounding towns have had an increase in auto thefts.  The vast majority of these thefts are of vehicles left running or with the key/key fob left inside them.  Please remove these items from vehicle, secure your vehicles at all times and refrain from leaving vehicles running.

The Maplewood Police Department works hard to protect the residents and their property.  We are asking that you assist us in this effort by making sure all vehicles and homes are properly secured at all times.  All charges are merely accusations. Each suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
