MAPLEWOOD, NJ - At about 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 21, Maplewood police officers responded to a report of a fight at Columbia High School (CHS), according to a release from the Maplewood Police Department.
Upon arrival officers did not observe any students actively fighting, however police stated that "there was a large group of students outside of the school." The group of students was waiting to go back into CHS because of the modified school schedule, and not because they were involved in a fight, according to Maplewood police.
Police stated that they found out that a fight had occurred between two girls, who are students at CHS, in front of the school just prior to the arrival of officers.
The individuals involved have been identified and at this time the matter is being handled internally by the school, stated police.
