Maplewood, NJ — The Maplewood Rotary Club hosted a social evening at Isaiah House in East Orange on Tuesday, October 29, 2019. The evening brought together members of Maplewood Rotary Club and guests at Isaiah House for this special event, which will hopefully become an annual event.

Rotarians "rocked our socks off" by handing out socks, pajamas to the children, and gift cards to the teenagers. Then they all shared pizza, refreshments, and snacks with residents at the Isaiah House. The Rotarians send out their gratitude to everyone who donated socks at all the different drop off locations. There was a literal mountain of socks —over 2,000 pairs collected during the "SOCKOBER DRIVE" — including a great haul from Rotary member Ed Boffa, who motivated his Union High School Interact Club to collect 633 pairs! A special thanks to Ed and his students as well as to Our lady of Sorrows Student Council in South Orange.

It was a great night of Service Above Self, the Rotary motto, and wonderful meeting the Isaiah House families, who were grateful for this small gesture of kindness from our communities.
