Maplewood’s Annual MayFest Street Fair Returns to Springfield Avenue this Sunday

MAPLEWOOD, NJ – Maplewood’s annual MayFest Street Fair returns to Springfield Avenue this Sunday, May 21, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The fair runs along Springfield Avenue in Maplewood from Indiana Street to Rutgers Street. This annual family-friendly event includes a variety of activities for kids from pony rides and a petting zoo, to face painting and crafts.

Vendors will be selling a wide variety of merchandise and local non-profits will be at the fair to share information about their organizations, according to the Springfield Avenue Partnership, which hosts MayFest.

Local restaurants will also be at the fair, including Gigi’s Cupcakes, Pimento Grill and TO-P 3 Japanese Fried Chicken and Ice Cream. Traditional street fair food will also be available.

MayFest will feature 4 stages with live music by popular local bands, as well as a DJ and special performances and demonstrations by Springfield Avenue dance and self-defense studios, stated event organizers. These local bands will perform at the corner of Springfield Avenue and Prospect Street as follows:

11 am – Israeli Disco
12 pm – Allied Chem
1 pm – Mood Ring
2 pm – Die Cast Cars
3 pm Johnny Woods and the Western Pines
4 pm Dwight West and Friends

Special performances include LaChaney's Dance & Music Academy, Blue Life Karate and Inspirational Dance, which are all Springfield Avenue businesses. There will also be a special performance by Columbia High School Alum, Autumn Jones. These performances will be held at the corner of Springfield Ave, and Yale Street as follows:

12 pm LaChaney’s Dance and Music Academy
12:30 pm Blue Life Karate
1:30 pm Inspirational Dance
2:30 pm LaChaney’s Dance and Music Academy
3 pm Autumn Jones (Columbia High School 2016 Graduate)
