UNION, NJ — Along with COVID-19 cases and trends, New Jersey is now reporting vaccination numbers. As of Tuesday evening, 219,126 first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered and 24,532 doses of the second vaccine.
In Essex County, the dashboard reports that 20,041 doses of the vaccine have been administered.
The phases of vaccination administration are as follows:
Phase 1A — Health care workers, long term care residents and staff.
Phase 1B — Seniors 75+ and frontline essential workers.
Phase 1C — Adults 65+ and other essential workers and those with health conditions.
Phase 2 — The general population.
New Jersey’s Phase 1A vaccinations began December 15. Phase 1B began on January 7, 2021.
According to the government’s COVID-19 site, New Jersey's COVID-19 vaccination program aims to:
- Provide equitable access to all who live, work, and/or are educated in New Jersey
- Achieve community protection, assuming vaccine effectiveness, availability, and uptake
- Build sustainable trust in COVID-19 and other vaccines
