New Jersey Intergenerational Orchestra (NJIO) is excited to welcome newcomers to its 24th season.  Whether you are a musician looking for an excellent non-competitive orchestra to join or an avid classical music lover seeking free concerts, NJIO invites you to learn more about this organization based in New Providence.

At the beginning of the 2017-18 season, NJIO will hold two open house rehearsals on September 7 and 14.  Musicians of all ages and abilities are welcome to join one or all of our orchestras during these rehearsals.  It’s the start of a new concert period and the music is new to everyone.  Come get the feel of the orchestra and see why the musicians love being a part of the NJIO family!  Prelude Ensemble, an ensemble intended for beginning strings, rehearses 4:30-5:30 pm.  Intermezzo Orchestra, an intermediate-level full symphony orchestra (strings, winds, brass, and percussion), rehearses from 5:45-7:00 pm and Symphony Orchestra, the more advanced symphony orchestra, rehearses from 7:15-9:30 pm.

Mark it on your calendar: NJIO’s first concert of the season is Sunday, November 12th at 3:00 pm at the beautiful neo-Gothic Crescent Avenue Presbyterian Church in Plainfield.  Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Artistic Director Warren Cohen, will play works by Tchaikovsky and Brahms, as well as Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6 “Pastorale.”  The orchestra will accompany violinist Daniel Seog, the first-place winner of NJIO’s annual Young Artist Concerto Competition.  Intermezzo Orchestra will perform works by Bach and Brahms.  Be sure to arrive early to the concert to hear the Prelude Ensemble perform in the lobby, and you will be serenaded by the Flute Choir during Intermission!
