The following is from Maplewood Mayor Vic De Luca
On behalf of the Maplewood Township Committee, I am happy to announce that NJ Transit will provide express bus service from the Maplewood Train Station starting on July 10. Buses will go to the New York Port Authority Bus Terminal at 40th-42nd Streets.
There will be four buses leaving Maplewood: one at 7 a.m.; one at 7:30 a.m.; one at 8 a.m. and one at 8:30 a.m. Your Hoboken rail ticket will be cross honored on these buses.
Tentatively the buses will leave Maplewood from the corner of Oakview Ave. and Dunnell Rd. There will be no evening bus service to Maplewood from NYC.
Since we now have our own NYC bus service, Maplewood will not provide jitney service from the Maplewood train station to the South Orange train station buses.
We have been advocating for express buses since NJ Transit announced the train diversion. We were finally successful and want to recognize the assistance we received from our state representatives: Governor Dick Codey, Assemblyman John McKeon and Assemblywoman Mila Jasey.
Maplewood now has three early morning direct trains to Penn Station and four express buses to NY Port Authority Bus Terminal.
