Mickey McNany was one of those unique individuals you may meet once in your lifetime, if you're lucky enough. Her passion, love, and joy were contagious and we were better people for knowing her. She was our teacher, our inspiration, our friend, and when she died in December it was hard to imagine starting a new year at Paper Mill without her.

As Founding Director of the Paper Mill Playhouse Theatre School, Mickey McNany led the creation of our acclaimed education programs and left an indelible mark on the lives of tens of thousands of students for over 30 years. The Mickey McNany Arts Education Initiative recognizes Mickey’s extraordinary contribution to the transformative, inclusive education programming at Paper Mill Playhouse.

Donations will help Paper Mill continue to seize new and unanticipated opportunities to train and mentor the next generation of accomplished artists and motivate New Jersey students and teachers with transformative education outreach.

Inclusive Arts Education
Paper Mill is committed to ensuring that all children regardless of economic, physical, or mental challenges should have access to the life-changing opportunities that result from participation in theater arts. Mickey seized opportunities to share the magic of theater with young people, launching important and inspiring new programs. Donations will give Paper Mill the resources needed to create and sustain vibrant new arts programs that will sustain Mickey’s legacy of creativity.

Classroom Improvement
Donations will help support classroom spaces throughout the theatre including the Black Box Theatre, located on the third floor of Paper Mill, which will be renamed, “The Mickey McNany Black Box Theatre.” It was here that she rehearsed her student touring troupes, taught many classes and oversaw the Junior Division of Paper Mill’s acclaimed Summer Musical Theatre Conservatory.
