MONTCLAIR, NJ - A 73-year-old Montclair woman was fatally injured after being struck by a Ford Focus on Wednesday night, police officials confirm.

Lt. David O'Dowd of the Montclair Police Department has confirmed that the pedestrian was fatally hit by a motor vehicle around 9:14 p.m. on Grove Street. He said, "The pedestrian, a 73-year-old Montclair woman, was crossing Grove Street at the intersection of Chester Road when struck by a Ford Focus traveling northbound on Grove Street."

He added that the driver of the vehicle was a 60-year-old female from Bloomfield, who remained at the scene.

The pedestrian was transported to Mountainside Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.

This incident is still under investigation.
