Update at 7 p.m. on June 7: Arrest Made in Death of Maplewood Man; Son Charged with Murder
MAPLEWOOD, NJ - A death in Maplewood early Wednesday morning, June 7, is being investigated as a homicide, according to a statement from Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Maplewood Police Chief Robert Cimino.
At about 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Wesley Reason, 53, of Maplewood "sustained fatal injuries when he was assaulted in his Broadview Avenue home," according to Murray and Cimino. Reason was pronounced dead at 3:08 a.m., and the preliminary cause of death is blunt force trauma, stated Murray and Cimino.
No arrests have been made at this time.
The investigation by the Maplewood Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor's Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force is active and ongoing.
